Emmogene (Edwards) Hamilton, 90, of Syracuse, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, in Athens, Ohio. She was born in Syracuse, Ohio in 1932 to the late W. Carleton Edwards and Helen Crooks Edwards. She was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker who later went on to enter the workforce and spent many years in public service. She finished her career as the Meigs County Recorder of 17 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. Holstein; parents, W. Carleton (Helen) Edwards; son, Robert B (Bobby) Holstein; step daughter, Autum Gail (Randal) King; 3 infant children, Troy R. King, Dana A. Congo, and Charles Hamilton; and siblings, Esther (Austin) Bukey, Elma (Donald) Weese, Elizabeth (Frank) Bright, Eleanor (Lowell) Wingett, Ethelyn (Gene) Kreisel, Elouise (Roy) Seely, Ellsworth (Nailene) Edwards, and Emmett (Dorothy) Edwards.
Emmogene is survived by her daughters, Diana Mills Dilcher and Teresa (Dan) Talbott; foster daughters, Jeannie (Roy) Higginbotham and Susie (Bill) Knapp; grandchildren, Angela (Jerry) Hayman, Amanda (Charles) Johnson, Amber (Eric) Shoults, Garrett Mills, Alyssa (Kyle) Brandon, David (Alison) Talbott, and Tina (Ricky) Cobb; foster grandchildren, David Smith, Cindy Smith, Brian Smith, Billy Knapp, Timothy Knapp, Brian Knapp, and Savanna Mills; 11 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at 1:00 pm at Anderson McDaniel Funeral Home in Pomeroy, Ohio with Pastor Charlie Mansfield officiating. Burial services will follow at Gilmore Cemetery in Racine, Ohio. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at the funeral home in.
