Meigs Coun ty?
On Saturday, there wasn't
anylhing else on the minds of
some 118 area youth. who parUcl·
paled In and had the time of I heir
life In the Meigs County FISh &amp;
Game Associations' annual fi shing derby a! lhe organization's
cl ubhouse In I he West Shade area
of Meigs County near Chester.
The 118 participants In the
eve n! was an all -time high,
breaking the old record of 117
from two years ago.
The area fi shing derby held
annually for nearly 25 years, has
become a family affair for many
as the number of adults pushed
the attendance figure to well
above 200.
Som e youngslers were child-

ren of young adulls, who them·
selves participated In the derby
as youths.
No mat ter wh ether or not the
kids won a prize. all were
winners and equally proud of
!h eir catc hes regardless of !he'
size or the number.

given the Ku Klux Klan when
they held a recruitment march in

Diego was highlighted by fond
memories of his playing days for
the Padres as well as game~
winning home-run power for the
Cubs.
Salazar. who played for San
Diego on three seperate occasions since 19!ll, smashed a
three~ run homer Sunday to cap a
four~ run eighth Inning that lifted
Chicago to an 11 ~ 10 victory over
the Padres.
"I still hear the cheers
I here!," said Salazar. "It's very
nice. They've remembered me
for a long time . I have good
memories and f miss this place a
tot ."

Super Lotto player holds a ticket
from Saturday night's drawing
that's worth $6 million.
Ohio Lottery officials said
Sunday only one ticket oul of the
$3,958,248 worth of tickets sold
contained the numbers 3, 16, 17,
20,34, and43. lt was purchased In
Canton.
The holder of lhat tickel can
redeem It and become eligible for
$229,500 a year for 20 years.
Lottery officials said 127
tickets had five of the numbers
for $1,000 each and 5,128 had four
of the numbers lor $7~ each .
The Kicker number was 851116,
with one player from Young·
stown having that ticket worth
$100,000.
Lottery officials said that oft he
$723,407 worth of tlckels sold, six
more had the fir st five numbers
for $5,000. Another65 had the fir st
four for $1,000; 340 had the fir st
three fof $100 and 6,426 had th e
first two for $10.
