Teaching your children the ABC's is fine, but you also need to
teach them about dru~ abuse and the special

Summer
softball...

I always enjoy talking to
Junior Wilson, the man of the
hour at the Galllpolls Tribune.
Got to talk to Junior a few
minutes Saturday morning . He
had his hands full trying to get
the Sunday edition together what
with all the fair Information,
sports etc.
Junior tells me that football
practice, several years ago,
started on August 20. Today the
practice sessions by then are
over and games are ready to
begin.
How things change. With so
much sports activity, they go
from basketball Into baseball ,
then the summer progra m and
then football .
I know the kids like It however.
It does cut summers short. some
kids burnout with too much
sports activity. This type of
program does not affect all
children, however .
I love the sports programs.
can't walt for the first kickoff and
I hope the Reds can kee p their
lead and come out winners. Wish
all the teams of the Tri-County
area the best with their football
program.

like to compUment the Me igs
County Fair Board for a job well
done .
The Fair was
excellent and
the grounds
were well kept.
All In all a nice
aUalr. Keep up
the fine work.
I would be remiss If I failed to
mention the young ladles that
took part In the softball program
this summer since I dld mention
the boys.
The girls played just as long
and as hard as the boys and did
an outstanding job.
Like to say to our granddaugh·
ter, Meredith that she dld us
proud as she did great on the
mound, at first and at the plate.
She was doing so well until she
contracted Mono.
This ended her softball season
as well as 4·H camp and other
activities . However, she ca m e
back strong as ever and captured
reserve champion In 4· H In food
and clothing.
Also !Ike to mention that Kellle
Collins, our step-granddaughter
did very well during the softball
season giving It her all.
Like to compUment all the
young ladles who did their thing
this past season. You were great.
