COLUMBUS, Ohio 1AP) - The endorsemen I scramble in Ohio by
Democratic presidential candidates gets under way Tuesday when U.S.
Sen. Cary Hart me<!ts privately with Gov. Richard Celeste and a/her slate
party leaders.
Some observers believe Celeste eventually will endorSP WaltN Mondale
because of th<>form<>r vice presid<>nt "s endorsemmls by labor. which help<'d
bankroll Celest e"s 19&! el<>elion victory.
On the other hand, Celeste has liberal , progressiv<> lean ings and rna)' h<'
aligned morP closely with the philosophy of lhe47-year-old Harl
The &-foot-4 Celeste, 46, also has been accused of emulating the Kmnedy
campaign style, jabbing his fingrr inlo thcairduringspeechesand ill·ushing
back unruly locks of hair.
The governor, however, also admits to close ties with Mond alr, ¥vilh
whom he worked while serving as Peace Corps dir.-ct or under Pn•s ldPnt
