Ohio, as the result of the untiring efforts
of the state aided by many leading citizens has brought about a new glow to the
Ohio image.
The Ohio rate of unemployment for
January 1965 was 166,000 or 4.3 per
cent of the labor force, and it stands lower than the nation's rate, which is 5 5 per
cent, and In one of our neighboring
states the figure Is near 10 per cent. In
January 1963 the Ohio percentage stood

January is a month of many layoffs 1n

with a lower percentage. One third of
January claiments for unemployment
benefits were construction workers, and
naturally three out of five who filed
claims were among the unskilled or sem•skilled workers, who always have a rough

The picture for 1965 in Meigs county looks bright In many respects. There
is a high level of construction that has
been going on during the winter months,
and there appears to be every reason to
believe that the tempo will :ricrease when
the weather warms up. The area outlook with a new plant under construction, and another expanding seem1

at relative high levels. Being an agriculture county the coming of spring will
make demands for additional help on
farms . and we see a bright ~icture to
local employment. and in Ohio generally we have one of the fastest growing
