BREAKFAST NEWS
Dear Helen
I think husbands who read
the newspapei at the breakfast
table are terrible. The children
and I can't communicate with
him at all. His breakfast is al·
ways cold by the time be's fin.

Dear lg:
You aren't going to love me
for my answer, but morning

Nor 1s a husband apt to dispense charm and companion·

that hour, you'd just as soon
they 'd whizz off till you can
cope.
So what better time for a
paper curtain? A man needs
to read his newa somewhere,
and his family can spare him
handily at breakfast when he
Isn't all there anyway. -H.
Dear Helen:
My vote won't count much
on this "baby at fO" question,
beclluae like you, Helen, I
thmk it Is a family affair. But
nevertheless, I'd suggest that
"Longing" take her cottage at
the lake and forget having a
second family. She and her husband have done their job raisIng two children, and they
deserve a little luxury and relaxation. Then, too, there are
bound to be grandchildren in a
few years, so they won't lack
for company at their cottagechildren they can truly enjoy
because they won 't have the reaponslbility of raising them.
Besides, hasn't she heard of
the Population Explosion?
AI you might gueaa, I hove

Dear Helen
Yesterday my daughter told
me, alter a neighbor had point·

to believe it! She is over e1ght
months preg111111t. She
quil
school abou~ four montha ago,
but told me it was because she
planned to marry this boy she
has been going with for the
past five months. The baby 's
father is the boy she went w1th
before that. She doesn't want
to marry h1m, and she refusea
to keep the baby. She'a 16.
l am a widow with five child·
ren (including my daughter) at
home. l can't bear to tbinlc of
her giving away her baby, and
am beggmg her to keep it. I'll
<.'are for it as if II were my
own.
Helen, It Isn't right to give
away a child - not when I
want It so bad! What do you
think' - MRS. T. T.
Dear Mrs. T.:
First I think you are ex.
tremely unobservant!
Second, I think your emotions
need time to subside before you
make any decisions.
There are several good reasons why your daughter should·
not keep the baby - all very
obvious. Mamly, she doesn't
want It ; you aren't ready for
it ; and the child would have
more advantages with loving
foster parents. - H.
