able to Melgs cDUnty beef cattle producers.
Durlng the past week W. W.
Wharton, Extension Speclallst,
Animal Science, at Ohio State
University was In Meigs county assisting Lloyd Blackwood in
completing his records on production testing of his calt crop
for the past seaon.
Mr. Blackwood Js the only
Meigs county producer now on
the pl'&lt;lduction test. several
years ago the Williams Colllns
herd was on test but this herd
is no longer in production.
The Ohio Beef Cattle Production testing program ls designed to assist beef cattlemen to
realize more profit from their
herds. It Is a new approach ot
improveing tbe quantity and
quality of Ohio beef c a t t 1e
through breeding selections.
To do this, the progeny of the
herd was evaluated on an lndl·
vidual buis. For such an evaluation, conalderation must be
given to (I) abWty to gain; 12)
bodv canfirmatton, (3) milking
and. mothering ability, &lt;4)
quality, (5) efficJency of gain,
