It seems a young man lived with his
parents In a public housing development. He attended public school, rode
the fJ:ee school bus, and participated in
the free lunch program. He entered the
Army and upon discharge kept hla na·
tiona! service life Insurance. He then
enrolled In the State University, work·
ing part time In the State Capitol to
supplement his Gl check.
Upon graduation, be married a public health nurae and bought a farm with
an FHA loan, then obtained an RFC loan
to go into business. A baby waa born In
the county hospital. He bought a ranch
with the aid Of a Gl loan and obtained
emergency feed from the Government.
Later he put part of his land In t h e
soU bank and tbe payments helped pay
off his debts. His parents lived very
comfortably on tbe ranch with their ~&lt;&gt;­
cia! -security and old-age assistance
checks. REA lines rupplied electricity.
The Government helped clear the land.
The oounty agent showed him how to
terrace lt. Then the Government paid
part of the coat' of a pond and stocked It
with ·flab. The ,lfiloverllment

Books from the public library were
delivered to his door. He banked money
with a government agency insured. His
children crew. -·~•. " en!-ered public
schools, ate free lunches, rode free buses, played In public parks, IWam in pub-·
· lie P901S and joj_ned the F.F.A. The man
owned an automobile so he favored r ·e
Federal-aid highway program .
