Texas Eastern ·transports natural fas from the Southwest to
perform a viral function in the manufactW'C Pf zippers madt
by Talon, Inc. For a zipper to do its job, its metal parts mm
be tough and pliable. To achieve this, in the case o£ <crtail:
alloys, the metal is first annealed (so!ten.d) in n'alurtd gat·firr:d·
furnacts befort it is processed into zipper parts. Talon uses natural gas because it ~rmits accurate and more uniform control
of the higher temperatures required in this annealing operation.
Talon also uses naJt4rol gas to firt the boilers that provi~ steam
and heat !Or its three Meadville plants, because gas is ckon,
