lt's~Me, That ~eigs Youth Be Served

,

AU too often we are unmindful of the
good done m a colniiiUlllty by t~e youth who
grow up about us an~ 1114!1'e oilen !han not
are qui~k to crititlze their ictlvltles rather

Take for Instance here 1n Metgs County
the activities of the 4·H Clubs, P'uture Farmers of America, Ftiture Homemakers of Amer1ca, Boy and G1rl Scouts, church youth
counc1ls and many other youth ortanlzat\Ons
Within the county that dally enncll ohr lives
and our community.
It Is an easy thing to glibly say, "Well they
are dotng a fine job," and then to let \be mat
ter rest at that pol~t
But beSides leveling criticism at the youth
of this county for the admittedly unwarrant
ed acts of JUst a few, what are YOU doing
about rerogmzlng the abilities, the reaching
out for good citizenship and the myriad of
other things the youngsters do in !he communlty
It's about time Meigs Counlians started In
to "counllng the blessmgs "brought to them
by the youth of this community "
It's about t1me that the youngsters were
given a hand m learning more of their community than they already know now
It's about lime that youth be recognized
for they are to be the community leaders and

the bread winners of tom01 row
It has often ~n sa1d that ReciJIIht~;~ of
Achievement oft times comes too late m life
to be fully apptec1ated and (ecogmzed And,
it 1s all lllO true
Therefore tod&y may we offer a ,uggesbon •
Why not establisiJ an annual Youth Week
m Me1gs County at which time those youth

one day period assume the dulles of every
offtclal In Meigs County The offlcJals, May
ors, Councilmen, County Off1cers, trustees,
Police and Police Chiefs all would of course
maintain their dull,.s, but would In the course
of that day have a youngster by their side
learning of the mtrll:atles of public office
and the duties it entails to the general public
Student! so named to such honorary posts

achievements during the past year
Is there not one ol'Aanlzation in Meigs
County thoughtful enough of the fine young
people we have here, who will sponsor such
a Youth Weekt There would of course be
many details to work out, but in the long run
we believe that the honor accorded to deserving young people would more tbaan offset
the hllle time accorded to organlzat!OJI of
such a venture

lt's~Me, That ~eigs Youth Be Served

,

AU too often we are unmindful of the
good done m a colniiiUlllty by t~e youth who
grow up about us an~ 1114!1'e oilen !han not
are qui~k to crititlze their ictlvltles rather
than to look to the otber, llde of the ledger
where 111ucH goll!lls bell!g dbt\e
Take for Instance here 1n Metgs County
the activities of the 4·H Clubs, P'uture Farmers of America, Ftiture Homemakers of Amer1ca, Boy and G1rl Scouts, church youth
counc1ls and many other youth ortanlzat\Ons
Within the county that dally enncll ohr lives
and our community.
It Is an easy thing to glibly say, "Well they
are dotng a fine job," and then to let \be mat
ter rest at that pol~t
But beSides leveling criticism at the youth
of this county for the admittedly unwarrant
ed acts of JUst a few, what are YOU doing
about rerogmzlng the abilities, the reaching
out for good citizenship and the myriad of
other things the youngsters do in !he communlty
It's about time Meigs Counlians started In
to "counllng the blessmgs "brought to them
by the youth of this community "
It's about t1me that the youngsters were
given a hand m learning more of their community than they already know now
It's about lime that youth be recognized
for they are to be the community leaders and

the bread winners of tom01 row
It has often ~n sa1d that ReciJIIht~;~ of
Achievement oft times comes too late m life
to be fully apptec1ated and (ecogmzed And,
it 1s all lllO true
Therefore tod&y may we offer a ,uggesbon •
Why not establisiJ an annual Youth Week
m Me1gs County at which time those youth
In each of various commumlles would for a
one day period assume the dulles of every
offtclal In Meigs County The offlcJals, May
ors, Councilmen, County Off1cers, trustees,
Police and Police Chiefs all would of course
maintain their dull,.s, but would In the course
of that day have a youngster by their side
learning of the mtrll:atles of public office
and the duties it entails to the general public
Student! so named to such honorary posts
would be selected In their own schools anct
townships To be accorded such an honor
would In itself be a reward for their own
achievements during the past year
