County classroom in 1899 at the age of 16

She was known as a stern but kind tea(h·
er who sought to drill In young minds the
rudimontary techniques of a society changing rapidly. Her classroom years spanned
from the time horaeless carriages were first
seen on metropolitan streets - and air·
planes wore yet wild dreams - to atomic
ruston.
