Pearl WilUams the PHS Industrial arts and science perfes·
ser made the comebaek Of the year last week by taldng over
leadership for the first lime in the Prediction Panel with one
week to go. Yes, though last week was designated as the final
round, several panelists have filed requests to have one mote
exercise in an "Across The Nation" list of games.
Below you'll find top games In the Big Ten, East South,
Southwest, and Pacific Coast to focus your crystal ball upon.
These games should open up a chance for either !llU Porter
or Rich Jones to overtake Williams. They stand one game
apart, 66-24, 65·25, and 64·26 In that order. Or Bill C:hlld5,
Don Hubbard, and Bill Brown, each at 82-26, eoncetvably
could surge back to or near the top.
Williams started slow In september. He was strictly an
also-ran and be<ame discouraged. But what he did proves
tlaat the "old college try" stillf.Y" off. In the fourth week be
h
began his climb; re&~:hed tllir place three weeks ago, perc ·
ed there a week; took over second behind Porter (who himself
had rallied from nowhere to knock out BUI Brown, md Bill
Chllda) last week.
Williams• 9-11o Porter's 7-3 dld the trick last Friday. Por·
ter stumbled by calling Wellston over Jackson, Louisville
over OU, and WISCOJl4in over Illinois.

Everybody missed the Wlicoltlln upset. Five others, Uke
