Marshall Allen Slater passed away at his home on December 1st, 2022. He was 71 years old.
He was born on April 18th, 1951 to Earl Henry slater and Phyllis may (McDonald) slater. In South Charleston west Virginia. He was a loving husband, father & grandfather.
He is survived by his wife Anna Jane Slater, his daughter, Natasha (Chad) Diddle; Two grandchildren, Hunter Nathaniel Stewart and Ryann Jane Diddle; He is also survived by his sister Shirley Ann Slater, and his brother Robin Earl Slater, as well as one uncle, David McDonald, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Marshall starting working at age 14 to help support the family after his father passed away. He worked at a service station in nitro, West Virginia, and also worked on a riverboat. He joined the US army in 1968 at age 17. He was stationed in Germany and served a tour in Vietnam. He was a Sgt. In 101st fourth infantry.
He married Anna Jane McCormick in November 1969, at age 18. They just celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary on November 22nd, 2022.
During his life he had many jobs and several businesses. He was a lifetime member of the VFW He was a member of local 132 of operating engineers. He had a general contractors license and did welding and ironwork. He built many schools and additions to hospitals in Ohio. He enjoyed traveling, riding motorcycles and always had a Harley. He organized motorcycle events and participated in many toy runs for the children at Christmas. He liked deep sea fishing. He also liked river boating. His first big boat was the smoking kitty, his next boat was the Tasha Ann. His last boat was my Nina. He had a lot of friends in all walks of life. He enjoyed spending time with daughter and grandchildren. He also liked to travel with his wife all over the United States. Marshall was a very adventurous man, but his wife Jane managed to keep him in line.
He will be missed by family and many friends.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 5th, 2022 at 1:00pm at Anderson McDaniel funeral home in Pomeroy, Ohio with Pastor Brenda Barnhart officiating. Viewing will be held from 11am to 1 pm. Burial will be at Standish Cemetery.
