Text Any textual data included in the document Howard L. Spurlock Sr. was born February 24, 1927 in Charleston, West Virginia to the late Thomas O. Spurlock Sr. and Mary Goode Spurlock. He departed this life on September 29, 2018, in the Abbyshire Place Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a long illness at the age of 91. He graduated from the Garnet High School, which he truly loved and remained a faithful alumnus. He was drafted in the Army and spent most of his time in Korea where he served in the K. M. A. G. Unit. After returning from the was he attended the West Virginia State College. It was there he met his beautiful bride, Sarah, and they shared 61 years together. During that union, they were blessed with three children. Howard worked several jobs before he became a baliff for the United States District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia. He remained there for 33 years until retiring in the early 1990's. He was a member and Past Master of the Washington Lodge # 4 F. & A.M. PHA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah K. Spurlock, his parents, brothers, Thomas Jr., James , Robert Sr., and sisters, Virginia and Louise. Howard is survived by his daughter, Patricia "Trish" Spurlock, of Rand, West Virginia, sons, Thomas "Tommy" (Kathy) Spurlock, of South Charleston, West Virginia and Howard Spurlock Jr., of Lewisburg, West Virginia, his grandchildren, Tommy and Tevin of South Charleston, West Virginia and Deion, of Rand, West Virginia. sisters-in-law, Delcenia Spurlock of Rand, West Virginia, Ruby Clarke, of Lexington, Kentucky and Bernice Sears, of Lewisburg, West Virginia and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. Funeral services will be held at the Grace Baptist Church, 600 Kanawha Boulevard West, Charleston, West Virginia on Friday, October 5, 2018. Visitation will begin at 12 o'clock noon followed by services at 1:00 P.M. Memorials may be made to the Mator's Kids Foundation, P.O.
