<text> Robert Frank Hawk, 95, of Pomeroy, Ohio, began his eternal rest on the morning of Friday, January 13", 2023. Robert was the unrivaled "Hay King" of Hemlock Grove, as his lifelong passion for farming was evident in nearby fields surrounding his home. He was never too busy for his family though, as he could always be found most evenings or on a cold winter day sharing a laugh or story while standing in his spot over his home's floor heating register staying warm.
Robert was born on January 6*, 1928, in Alfred, Ohio, to the late Emmett and Bernice Hawk.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his loving wife of 70 years, Ramona; sisters, Leota and Pearl; and his grandson, Colton.
He is survived by his daughter, Sheila (Paul) Regan of Bidwell, Ohio; son, Kelly (Lynn) Hawk of Letart, West Virginia; daughter, Robin Gibbs of Gallipolis, Ohio; son, Tony (Sonia) of Pomeroy, Ohio; sister, Sara Cullums of Pomeroy, Ohio; eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.
Robert dedicated much of his life to public service in many different forms. From serving his nation in the Army during the second World War to driving the local school bus to serving as a trustee in the local township, he always put the needs of others before his own. That same selflessness was felt by his family.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 16, at 1:00pm at the Anderson McDaniel Funeral Home in Pomeroy with Pastor Roger Watson officiating. Burial will follow in the Hemlock Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held 2 hours prior (11am-1pm) to the service.
In lieu of flowers, Robert's family has requested that donations be made in his name to the Hemlock Grove Cemetery or the Blakeslee Center located in Middleport, OH.</text>
