Jeffrey Joe Haskins, 67, of Gallipolis, passed away, on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at his residence. He was born May 16, 1956, in Nelsonville, Ohio, to the late Loren Murray Haskins and Dorothy Brown Haskins.
Jeff graduated class of 1975 of Nelsonville York High School with a welding degree.
He married Melanie McCune on May 16, 1975, on his birthday so he wouldn’t forget it. They moved to Gallipolis, Ohio, after graduation.
Upon graduation, he went straight to work at the Ohio Valley Electric Corporation Kyger Creek Plant. He worked there until his debilitating accident in 1979. After the accident he could no longer work but he was considered a full-time employee until he retired two years ago.
To the union of Melanie and Jeffrey brought forth two children Matthew and Megan.
Around 1992 they divorced and went their separate ways.
On December 5, 2000, he married Beverlee Houdashelt and remained married to her until his death.
He was baptized into Christ on November 18, 2007, by Leo Kuhn at Central Christian Church. Jeff and Beverlee were charter members of the Church.
He loved to travel, so when Beverlee retired; they started traveling. They went to New York City and saw all the sights there with his stepson Brad guiding the tour. They went to Florida and traveled the surrounding states. But the big adventure was in 2019 when they and their bulldog drove to the Pacific Ocean. During this trip they saw Mount Rushmore, the Crazy Horse Monument, saw the bridges of Madison County, which was from the movie of the same name, and the Golden gate Bridge in San Francisco. They were gone for a month.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Beverlee, his son, Matthew (January) Haskins, Chillicothe, his daughter, Megan Haskins, of Gallipolis and his stepson, Brad Houdashelt, Yonkers, NY. Twelve grandchildren and one great-grandson also survive.
In keeping with his wishes Cremation services are entrusted to the Cremeens-King Funeral Home, Gallipolis. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
The family would like to express their sincerest thanks to Promedica Hospice for their help the past six and a half months, especially Amanda and Amy.
