            <text>Shirley A. James Smith, 91, Albany, passed away Sunday March 5, 2023, at&#13;
Kimes Convalescent Center.&#13;
     She was born June 19, 1931, in Athens, the daughter of the late &#13;
Mildred Jane Bumgarner James and William Thompson James Sr. &#13;
Shirley was a 1949 graduate of Athens High School, a member of&#13;
Albany Senior Citizens, Albany Seniors, Albany Methodist Church,&#13;
She and her late husband Jake operated S &amp; J Grocery in Albany,&#13;
and Professional Auto Parts of Athens.  &#13;
     She is survived by children Donald Brian (Rita) Smith of Nelsonville,&#13;
Bruce Emerson (Christy) Smith, David Allen (April) Smith both of Albany;&#13;
grandchildren Jessica Smith, Jarrett Smith, and Jacob Smith; &#13;
great-grandchildren Wyatt, Lyle, O'Rion, Charlotte, and Dalton;&#13;
sisters-in-law Mary James and Genevia James; several nieces and&#13;
nephews she dearly loved them all.  The family would like to thank&#13;
the staff of Kimes and Kimes Hospice for their wonderful care of Shirley.&#13;
     In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her&#13;
husband Emerson Lyle "Jake" Smith, siblings Dorothy James Williams,&#13;
William James Jr., Donald James, Virginia James Mortz, David James,&#13;
and Blaine James.&#13;
     Services will be Wednesday at 1:00 P.M. at Bigony-Jordan Funeral Home,&#13;
with Dr. Walt Goble officiating.  Visitation is 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. time&#13;
of service.  Burial will be in Athens Memorial Gardens.</text>
