He had enjoyed hunting and was a member of First Baptist Church. Rick was married to Janice "Jan" Johnson Carter on April 30, 1983; and she survives in Gallipolis, along with a daughter, Hallie R. Carter of Canal Winchester, Ohio; two grandchildren, Colby Ferguson and Chloe Carter; and one sister, Amy Carter of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
