He was born on April 15, 1945 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, son of the late Charles Rufus and Dorothy Swangler Thompson. Barry was a professor at the University of Rio Grande for 40 years. Barry is survived by his wife, Judithe Mosier Thompson; one daughter, Alta Dawson and one son, Barry C. (Emine) Thompson both of California; two grandchildren, Darcy Dawson and Aaron Thompson; and a cousin, Lorraine Amos of Florida. A Graveside Service for Barry will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 10, 2023 at Spring Hill Cemetery, 1427 Norway Avenue, Huntington, WV 25705 (B'nai Israel Section).
