            <text>Ronald L. Clay, 85, of Chester, passed away Thursday, December 14th, 2023, at his home.&#13;
Ronnie was born on June 15th, 1938, in Logan, West Virginia. He was the son of the late Elizabeth Leeson Clay and Lando (Lank) Clay. Ronnie graduated from Chester High School in 1956 and married Gayann (Gaul) Clay on June 28, 1960. He served in the United States Army from 1961 to 1963 during the Cuban Missile&#13;
Crisis. Ronnie was a member of the Chester Volunteer Fire Department when it was first founded as well as the Shade River Masonic Lodge and American Legion. Ronnie attended the Chester United Methodist Church. He retired from the Ohio Valley Electric Corporation in Cheshire, Ohio after 41 years of service in 1998. During retirement, Ronnie enjoyed attending his grandchildren's activities and took several trips to Walt Disney World with his family. He also loved running and relaxing at the river.&#13;
In addition to his loving wife Gayann, Ronnie is survived by his son Todd Clay (Andrea); daughter Suzanne Durst (Bryan); four granddaughters, Lizzie and Erin Clay, Ally and Juli Durst; sister RuthAnn (Kenneth) DeLong; and many dear nieces and nephews.&#13;
Funeral services will be held at 1 P.M., Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2023, at the Ewing-Schwarzel Funeral Home in Pomeroy, OH, with Pastor Scott Blevins officiating. Burial will follow at Meigs Memory Gardens, where military services will be conducted by the Tuppers Plains VFW Post 9053 and the Middleport American Legion.&#13;
Visitation will be held at the funeral home Monday, from 4-7 P.M., where Masonic services will be conducted by the Shade River Masonic Lodge #453.&#13;
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Chester Volunteer Fire Department in Chester OH.&#13;
