            <text>Charles Thomas Beard, 82, of Gallipolis, Ohio passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2024 at Teays Valley Center in Hurricane, West Virginia.&#13;
&#13;
Born on December 9, 1941 in Gallipolis, Ohio, Charles was the son of the late Gilbert and Alice Irene Rothgeb Beard.  Charles graduated from Gallia Academy High School and worked at Goodyear/M &amp; G Polymer.  On April 1, 1962, Charles married Karen Sue Beard in Kanauga.  They enjoyed traveling together, taking several trips every year until she preceded him in death on November 26, 2016.    &#13;
&#13;
Charles is survived by his two sons, Dwayne B. Beard of Gallipolis and Jeffery (Lesley) Beard of Cataula, Georgia; six grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.  Also surviving Charles are a sister, Alice Giles of Gallipolis; brother, James (Rita) Beard of St. Petersburg, Florida; brother-in-law, Keith Owen (Lisa) Black of Silver Springs, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.&#13;
&#13;
In addition to his parents and his wife Karen, Charles was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, William and Ursula Beard; sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Aza Bailey; and brother-in-law, Joe Giles.&#13;
&#13;
There will be no calling hours, and the family will honor his request to be cremated.  There will be a private memorial service on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at Ohio Valley Memory Gardens.  Willis Funeral Home is handling the arrangements for the family.</text>
