            <text>John Leonard Bass, of Dexter, Ohio, passed away peacefully after a life marked by hard work, service to his country, and devotion to his family and friends.&#13;
&#13;
John was born on June 26, 1947, in Mason County, West Virginia, to Ora and Leonard Bass. Following his graduation from Southern High School, he attended the Jackson Manpower School in Jackson, Ohio, where he trained as a draftsman.&#13;
&#13;
John proudly served his country in the United States Army and was stationed in Vietnam for approximately 16 months. After returning home, he worked for Ridge Tool Company in Elyria, Ohio, before beginning a long career in the coal industry. He worked as a coal miner for Southern Ohio Coal Company for 27½ years and was a proud member of Local 1890, District 17 of the United Mine Workers of America.&#13;
&#13;
In his free time, John enjoyed traveling and spending time at his property in Cedar Key, FL.  He recently purchased a home there, fulfilling a longtime dream.&#13;
&#13;
John was preceded in death by his parents, Ora and Leonard Bass a daughter Chrissy son , Josh and Lenora Offenburger Bass.&#13;
&#13;
He is survived by his son, Steve Bass, and wife Virginia Underwood; grandchildren Taylor Bass(Dylan Spackey) , Brittany Bass (Logan Fink) , brother, Dave Bass and sisters, Barb Koker and Cherri and Roy Rinehart.  He is also survived by 4 nephews, 5 nieces, 7 great-nephews, 14 great-nieces, 3 great-great-nephews, and 5 great-great-nieces, along with many cherished friends and extended family members.&#13;
&#13;
John will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his love of travel and adventure, and the kindness he showed to those around him. He leaves behind a legacy of dedication, perseverance, and love that will continue to inspire all who knew him.&#13;
&#13;
He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all whose lives he touched.&#13;
&#13;
Funeral service will be held on Monday June 15, 2026 at 1pm at the Anderson McDaniel Funeral Home in Pomeroy.   Visitation for family and friends will be held two hours prior to the service (11-1:00pm)</text>
