POMEROY The
25th Annual Memorial
Bike Run sponsored by
the Meigs County Bikers
Association is set to roar
out of the Pomeroy parking lot at l p.m. on
Sunday, May 30.
Bikes begin gathering
on the parking lot at noon
in anticipation of the 1
p.m. departure. There is
no fee to ride and no registration though bikers
may want to arrive early
because in recent years

the run has seen nearly
1 ,000 bikes in attendance. The Association
will be selling commemorative T-shirts and a
local team for the Meigs
County Relay for Life
will be selling pop and
water on the parking lot.
Once the run begins,
bikers will turn left onto
Ohio 833 and head
toward Midd.Jeport where
the run will stretch
through the entire village, exiting on Hobson
and onto Ohio 7. Then.
the run will turn left on
CR5 to Rutland, then to

New Lima Road. to
Harrisonville and Ohio
143, then back to Ohio 7
for a final destination
bound for the Meigs
County Fair Grounds.
The ride takes around
one hour.
Once at the fair
grounds, the Association
has planned a day of bike
games, contests, music
and concessions for an
admission price of $5.
There will also be camping available.
Bikers of every race.
creed and breed are welcome to participate in the

run which began to honor
those members of the
Association and other
bikers who have died. As
a tribute, the run traditionally rolls by at least
some of the final resting
places of fellow bikers
who have passed away.
The run has also become
one of Pomeroy's "unofficial" summer festivals.
drawing in one of the
largest crowds of the season and it is, for all
intents and purposes, the
largest
"unofficial"
parade the county has to
offer.

SYRACUSE
London Pool, Meigs
County's only public
swimming pool, will
reopen on Saturday for a
free day of swimming.
The pool will be open
from noon - 7 p.m.,
Saturday. May 29 and
swimmers of all ages are
welcome to take advantage of the free gift from
the Village of Syracuse.
This year the pool is open
noon - 7 p.m., Monday Saturday and l-7 p.m. on
Sunday. The pool extended its closing time from 5
to 7 p.m. to accommodate those who are busy
or work during the day
but would like to swim.
Also, night swims, now
called ··swimming Under
the Stars" are also
offered later from 8:3010:30 p.m., Mondays and
Tuesdays.
Admission has raised
slightly this year but
according
to
Pool
Manager Wendy Egan,
the pool will no longer be
requiring swimmers take
15 minute breaks every
hour which means swimmers will have extra time
in the pool. This year's
daily admission rates are:
children (ages one-18),
$3; adults. $4: seniors.
$3: non-swimmers, $1.
Admission rates for
"Swimming Under the
Stars" are: $2 for S\vimmers: $1 for non-swimmers. ·
Also. new this vear are
punch cards u'sed as
multi-visit passes. Those
who purchase these
punch cards are free to
share the care with an)one and each visit equals
one punch. This means a
swimmer can use a 10visit card to bring J0 different. people in at once,
bring one person in I 0
times or whatever combination the purchaser
prefers . The multi-visit
passes come in two varieties including one costing $27 which is for I0
visits or $115 which is
for 50 visits.
Egan also said this year
new items have been
added to the concession
stand including corn
dogs and chocolate drizzled Rice Krispies treats
along with some healthier choices like low-calorie popcorn and I00 percent apple juice boxes.
Fountain drinks and
snow cones will also be
on the menu.

I love preaching and
teaching on the Kingdom
of God. The Kingdom
message is the only message Jesus preached.
Think about that 1 Jesus'
main message was not
faith. money, heaven or
salvation. Jesus' main
massage
was
the
Kingdom. However, the
message of the Kingdom
encompasses many topics such as faith. salvation, money, power,
humility, etc.
Jesus spoke of the
Kingdom because the
Kingd0m of God is the
only message that carries
the Power of God. The
Message of the Kingdom
is· the only message,
topic, concept, idea, and
mandate that carries the
raw power of God to
change, transform and
restore lives.
The Bible tell us: "For
the Kingdom of God is
not in word, but in
power." (I Cor. 4:20
NKJV)
In other words, the
Kingdom of God is not
about
mere
talk.
Somebody once said that
'·talk is cheap." I understand the power of the
spoken word from a biblical
perspective.
However, what Paul is
referring to here, is that
the Kingdom of God is
not about just preaching,
teaching, or giving a
promising feel good message resulting in mere
feeling good. Rather. the
Kingdom of God is about
power to change the
impossible.
You see, it is abnormal
for a Christian not to
have an appetjte for the
impossible. The walk of
faith is the walk of
impossibilities turning
into possibilities. It has
been written into our
spiritual DNA to hunger
for the impossibilities
around us to bow at the
name of Jesus.
The Jack of miracles
isn't because it is not in
God's will for us. The
problem exists between
our ears. As a result, a
transformation, a renewing of the mind, is needed, and it's only possible
through a work of the
Holy Spirit that typically
comes upon desperate
people, not upon satisfied
religious folks.
Stories of the impossible are becoming the
norm, and the company
of people who have
joined this quest for an
authentic gospel, the
gospel of the Kingdom.
is increasing. Loving

Ale){ Colon
God and His people is an
honor; bringing the two
together is a privileged
and a joy. In our church
we believe in the true,
never changing presence
and power of God to
change difficult and
impossible situations in a
person's life.
We will no longer
make up excuses for
powerlessness because
powerlessness is inexcusable. Our mandate is
simple: raise up a generation that can openly display the raw power of
God by faith that is
worked through love.
I believe that the
church of Jesus Christ
needs to get back to the
basics of the Great
Commission and to the
foundation
of
the
Kingdom of God. It's
time to quit believing the
lie that miracles and
God's power ceased
with the apostles. God
has
never changed.
Miracles have never
ceased in the life of God
fearing and believing
people. Jesus is still the
same and the Holy Ghost
is still working in the
earth. Can I tell you that
you belong to the
Kingdom of God by way
of being born again; you
have the very essence
and nature of God inside
of you. That makes you
a supernatural human
being.
You have been blessed,
or empowered to succeed
with every supernatural
ability to succeed in
Christ Jesus. That is
power! That is Kingdom
- not religion. Step out
and believe God to do
what He promised. It's
inside of you. Use it.
Believe it. Don't limit it.
Honor God with it.
Believe and you shall
receive. We serve and

''This has been a long
time corning," Lemley

making it to the state.
And that's wh'at we're
going after tomorrow."

Harvick signs multiyear
extension with RCR
BY JENNA FRYER

CONCORD. N.C. - Ke' in
Harvick always regretted going
public during his first round· of
contract
negotiations
with
Richard Childress Racing. and
the driver vowed to bl! more
tightlipped about his business
going forward.
He did a good job this time
.around. refusing all year to discuss his talks \\ ith team owner
Childress on a contract extension. The t\\ o sides announced a
multiyear deal Saturda) at
Charlotte Motor Speed'" a) on
their own tenns.
'·J think 2003 was a mess." said
Harvick, the current Sprint Cup
Series points leader. "I kind of let
m) self get caught up in the middle of this world in the media and
it's best to handle your family
matters "ithin your family and

not let the outside ""orld dictate
\\hat 'ou want to do. I felt like it
'" ent • 'er) \\ell as we went
through it this time."
Terms on the contract were not
disclosed.
Harvick will sta) in the No. 29
Chevrolet. the car he took over
following Dak Earnhardt's death
in the 200 I season-opening
Daytona 500. He had not been
scheduled to 1110\C into the Cup
Serie~ for another year. but
Earnhardt's accident expedited
his promotion.
"\\ e a1 e 'cry excated to have
Ke\"in back. he has \\ntten a lot
of hi~tor) 1or RCR,'' Cluldress
said. "'\\hen \\C lost Dale in

The Talladega victory came the
same week that sponsor
Shell/Pennwil ~a' leaving his
No. 29 team. Childress said he's
talking to "three or four companies" about sponsorship, and
hopes to ha\C an announcement
soon.
But there's no question. owner
and dri\'er both said. that having
Han•ick locked in makes it ea~ier
to court a sponsor.
"It's alwa)!> kind of like the
chicken and the egg," Childress
said. "I think that Ke' in and I
both have enough confidence in
each other that we kno\\ \\c're
going to go out and put a great
