Warren G. “Jerry” Black, 77, of Rutland, passed away, at 7:44 p.m. on Monday, October 11, 2021 in the Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis. Born September 8, 1944 in Temple Texas, he was the son of the late Warren D. and Esther Schoppert Black. He was a retired coal miner and member of the Rutland Independent Holiness Church.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon George Black, whom he married on August 29, 1964 in Rutland, his daughters, Tammy (Norman) Matson, of Middleport, Chris (Bill) Ellis, of Rutland, Mandi (John) Clonch, of St. Augustine, Fl., Laurie (Erick) Graham, of Rutland, and Angie Clay, of Vinton. Grandchildren, Ashley Taylor, Braden Matson, Joey (Amanda) Ellis, Jessica Vanmeter, Brandon (Lesa) Black, Kayla (Luke) Pearson, Emily Graham, Brittiany (Colton) Hensley, and Michaele (Chuck Burns) Clay, great-grandchildren, Skylar Arnold, Stevie Ellis, Antwon Vanmeter, Quinton Vanmeter, Liam Vanmeter, Zakaria George, DeMarco, Marissa Black, Hunter Pearson, Kazden Pearson, Killian Hensley, Grady Burns, and Greer Burns, brother, Lynn Black, of New Haven, WV., sisters, Debi (Mike) Gilmore, of Rutland, Brynda (Roger Adrian) Faulk, of Langsville, and Lynda Stewart Bates, of Harrisburg, Oh., sisters-in-law, Jane (Jim) Crace, Barb (Mike) Shaver, Sharon Black, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews also survive.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Ronnie and Roger Black, sister-in-law, Joyce Black, brother-in-law, Randy Faulk, niece, Shelly Black Otworth, nephew, Zachary Faulk, and great-niece, Taylor Stewart.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Rutland Independent Holiness Church, Brick Street, Rutland. Pastor Norman Matson will officiate and interment will follow in the Bradford Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. at the Church on Friday. The Cremeens-King Funeral Home, Pomeroy is entrusted with the arrangements.
