Melvin L. Forester, Sr., 80, of Racine, passed away at 2:48 a.m. on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at the Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis, Ohio. Born October 25, 1938 in Tad, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Herman and Myrtle Hammonds Forester.
He was a general laborer, a farmer, and a long standing member of the Racine Gun Club, a former member of the Racine Volunteer Fire Dept., and he loved to fish and hunt.
He is survived by his wife, Mary “Janie” Forester, whom he married on February 5, 1981 in Racine, and children, Beatrice Cline, of Mt. Vernon, Oh., Glenda (Tim) Owens, of Mt. Vernon, Oh., Melvin Forester, Jr., of Long Bottom, Tina (Tim) Overly, of Apple Valley, Oh., Loretta (Mike) Berry, of Logan, Oh., Teddi (Jeremey) Wolverton, of Newark, Oh., Mary (Ray) Proffitt, of Springfield, Roberta (David) Dexter, of Racine, Robert (Heidi) Forester, of Racine, and Joseph (Tiffannee) Forester, of Gallipolis. Twenty three grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, daughters-in-law, Millie Kirk, and Jacklyn Forester, his sisters, Sandy (Terry) Cheene, of Kalmath Falls, Or., Rebecca Edwards, El Cajon, Cl., special friends, Roger and Deb Hill, the Stover family, and the Adkins family, and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his son, Tony Forester,
Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Letart Falls Cemetery on Friday, May 10, 2019 at 2:30PM with Pastor Tim Overly officiating. Friends may call from 6-8PM on Thursday, May 9th in the Cremeens-King Funeral Home, Racine and one hour prior to the service in the Chapel of Letart Falls. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Melvin Forester Memorial Fund, PO Box 323, Racine, Ohio 45771
