Rhoda Jane Simpson, 91, of Pomeroy, passed away, at 5:55 a.m. on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 in the Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis. Born February 19, 1927 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late George T. and Rhoda Jane McChesney Kitson. Rhoda was married to the late Paul Simpson,whom she wed on January 28,1941 in Willisburg, WV. She was a retired cook at the Abors of Pomeroy Nursing Home.
She is survived by her four sons, Paul A. (Janet) Simpson, Jr., of Long Bottom, David (Becky) Simpson, of New Haven, WV., Gary Simpson, of Pomeroy, and Randall (Melanie) Simpson, of Racine. Grandchildren, Valerie (Jeff) Nottingham, Joanie (Shawn Eads) Simpson, Teresa (Shane Napper) Simpson, Staci (Brad) Holsinger, Tony Simpson, Kyle Simpson, Andrew Simpson, Jenna (Nathan Dingey) Simpson, great-grandchildren, Ethan and Isaac Nottingham, and Devin Humphreys, and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Paul Simpson, a grandson, thirteen sisters, and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 20, 2018 in the Cremeens-King Funeral Home, Racine. Rev. James Corbitt will officiate and interment will follow in the Meigs Memory Gardens. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Thursday.
