Velma L. Johnson, of Gallipolis, passed away, at 5:10 a.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at her daughters Gallipolis residence. Born October 4, 1938 in Cherry Fork, Ohio she was the daughter of the late Earl and Donna E. Bennett Snider. She was a homemaker and she loved to attend, setup, and sell items at flea markets with her late husband, and also she attended the Gallipolis Apostolic Church.
Velma is survived by her daughters, Raelene Northup, of Gallipolis, Mary (Dave) Chaffins, of Bidwell, Toni Novak, of Gallipolis, Linda (Charles Barker) Johnson, of Gallipolis. A special grandson, Justin Johnson, of Gallipolis, ten grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Orville Johnson, whom she married on November 24, 1962 in Gallipolis, and preceded her on January 13, 2014, three daughters, Katherine Copley, Donna Johnson, and Orvillette Johnson Riffle, a brother, Earl Snider, Jr., and a sister, Elizabeth Snider.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 1, 2018, in the Cremeens-King Funeral Home, Gallipolis. Pastor Mike Chapman will officiate and interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8 pm on Wednesday, at the funeral home.
