Glenn J. Niday, 82, of Brookville, Ohio and a native of Gallia County, passed away unexpectedly Saturday afternoon, January 27, 2018 while visiting with long-time friends near Vinton, Ohio. Born November 10, 1935 in Gallipolis he was the son of the late Bill and Mabel Johnson Niday. Glenn retired after 30 years of service as a guidance counselor with the Dayton Public Schools,ending his professional career at the Patterson Co-Op High School, He was a 1954 graduate of Gallia Academy High School and was a member of one of the best basketball teams in G.A.H.S. history. Following high school he attended and graduated from Ohio University earning his bachelor's degree and later earned his master's degree from Marshall University. Glenn was a life-time member of the Gallia Academy Alumni Association and was a long-time member of the St. John's Lutheran Church in Vandalia, Ohio. Glenn was an avid golfer and love to participate in tennis and basketball. Surviving is his wife, Barbara von Hoff Niday, whom he married May 23, 1964 in Dayton, Ohio, his two daughters, Leslie (Steve) Bodkin, of Westerville, Ohio and Janet (Steve) Morgan, of Terrace Park, Ohio, five grandchildren, Elle Bodkin, Nina Morgan, Ava Morgan, Evan Morgan and Mark Morgan, two step-grandchildren, Kristin (Steve) Bodkin Devor and Kevin (Courtney) Bodkin, four step-great grandchildren, Nicholas Devor, Sophia Devor, Taylor Bodkin and Leo Bodkin. Glenn is also survived by his brother, Wayne L. Niday, Gallipolis, seven nieces and nephews and several dear friends and buddies from his breakfast club. A "Gathering of Family & Friends" will be from 2 - 4 P.M. on Sunday, February 11, 2018 in the Cremeens-King Funeral Home.
