Donald Ray Smith, 81, of Clifton, WV, passed away peacefully at home with family by his side on Saturday, July 1, 2023.
He was born September 29, 1941, in Clifton, WV, a son of the late Harold and Virginia (Birchfield) Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Mina Myrtle (Lewis) Smith; son, Greg Lewis; grandson, Jason Roush; brothers, Lenny and Jack Smith; sister, Carolyn Knapp and brother-in-law, Bob Cunningham.
Don was a United States Army Veteran. He had previously worked for Lieving Coal Company, Sporn Coal Mine, Meigs Mine #1, and Valley Inc. as a Crane Operator for 10 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and coon hunting.
Survivors include his daughter, Teresa Smith of Clifton; son, Randy Lewis and his wife, Sherry; daughter-in-law, Diana (Lewis) Bumgarner; granddaughter, Stacey Roush-Adkins and her husband, Chance; great-grandchildren, Matthew Thompson, Landon Thompson, Kayleigh Thompson, Laine Michael Thompson; sister, Sharon Cunningham and brother-in-law, Buck Knapp.
Graveside service will be 1 p.m., Monday, July 3, 2023, at Union Cemetery, Letart, WV, with Buck Knapp officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Stewart Johnson V.F.W. Post 9926, Mason, WV, American Legion Post 140, New Haven, WV, and V.F.W. Post 0039, Pomeroy, OH.
