Gary "Bubba" Duane Slaven, 70, of Racine, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, May 22nd, 2023. He was born on August 19th, 1952 in Rainelle, West Virginia to the late Harry McKendree Slaven and the late Helen Frances Smith Slaven. Gary was preceded in death by his brother Keith Slaven, sister Lillian (Honey) Slaven, and sons Aaron and Carlton Drummer.

He is survived by his two daughters, Amber Slaven (Jamie) and Megan Swisher (Brad), brothers Vern and Johnny, and sisters Dee and Patty. Gary is also survived by his aunt Rita Slavin of Syracuse, cousins, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and close friends.

Gary worked his entire life in construction and was a talented woodworker. He built homes and offices in the late 1980's through the early 1990's. He worked in lumber yards, including Baum Lumber, for more than 20 years before retiring in 2020.

Gary was kind, easy-going, and loved by many. In recent years, he enjoyed breakfast with the crew at Sikorski's, relaxing, and watching Westerns. A celebration of life service will be held June 3rd, 2023 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Cooper Hollow Event Barn, refreshments and food will be provided.
