Rebecca Lynn (Tate) Zurcher, 74 of Pomeroy, Ohio, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 4,2023 at the James Cancer Center in Columbus, Ohio. She was born on Novemeber 27, 1948 in Cleveland, Ohio to Donald Dayton and Ruth Gwendolyn (Brown) Tate. Beck was the youngest of four children. She married John Dale Zurcher on December 11, 1982.

Rebecca worked as an elementary school teacher in the Meigs Local School District for her entire career as an educator. She was a graduate of Hope College in Holland, Michigan, and received a master's degree at Ohio University in Athens, where she also did additional post-graduate work. She was a member of New Beginnings United Methodist Church in Pomeroy. Rebecca served as a licensed local pastor at Heath United Methodist Church in Middleport, Ohio.

Rebecca was a member of the Alpha Omicron chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International of Key Women Educators. She was also a member of the Meigs County and Retired Teachers Associations.

She is survived by her beloved husband, John, sister Martha Gallagher, brother-in-law, Wayne Zurcher, sisters-in-law Christine Tate and Sue Zurcher, nephews, cousins, and beloved friends.

Becky was preceded in death by her parents, mother-in-law, Wilovene (Robert) Bailey, brothers Donald Steven and David Hugh Tate, brothers-in-law Thomas Gallagher and Junior Mattox, niece Glenda Lenore, nephews Clifford and Brian, and sisters-in-law Arlene Heavner, Sharon Mattox, and Karen Zurcher, maternal grand parents Earl and Daisy Brown, paternal grandparents Worthy and Evelyn Tate, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Funeral Services will be held at the Anderson McDaniel Funeral Home in Pomeroy, Ohio on Thursday from (12:00 -1:00pm) under the direction of Pastor Scott Blevins. Burial and graveside service will take place at Rocksprings Cemetery at a later date.
