Emerson Lloyd Pooler 85, went to be with the lord and join his wife in heaven on October 9,2023. He was born October 21, 1937 in Portland Ohio son of the late Roy and Elsie Pooler.
He is survived by his: children, Lawrence (Cheryl) Pooler, Kathy (Steve) Beach and Lisa Howard; grandchildren, Noelle (Josh) Brunelle, Megan Dyer, Madison Dyer and Alysa Howard; several nieces and nephews; and special friends and neighbors Greg and Lisa Cunningham.
Emerson was a member of Mt. Hermon United Brethren Church and also attended Eden United Brethren Church. Emerson graduated from Chester High School where he played football and basketball. He met the love of his life Virginia at the Chester Skate - Away Rink and was married shortly after on April 5, 1958. Emerson said Virginia allowed him to be the boss as long as she was the superintendent, This worked well as they were married for 52 years!
Emerson provided for his family by working construction, then at Brockway Glass and retired at Baum Lumber. He enjoyed spending time with his family including camping trips from anywhere in a field to Forked Run State Park. He and Virginia took several trips to the Amish Country and Pigeon Forge. After Virginia went to heaven he enjoyed visiting friends and neighbors.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia and his siblings, Jean Sexson and Phyllis Reed.
Funeral Service will be held Monday October 16,2023 1:00pm at Anderson McDaniel Funeral Home in Pomeroy with Pastors Craig Hollar and Aaron Martindale officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Herman Cemetery.
