Virginia L. Tackett, 90, of Vinton, Ohio, passed away Thursday, June 1, 2023, at home surrounded by family.
She was born August 7, 1932, in Milton, WV, a daughter of the late Henry A. and Margie E. Barnett.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Ronnie Ellis; grandson, Tim Phillips Il, sister, Betty Gay; and a brother, Robert Barnett.
Virginia was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Rio Grande, OH. She was a graduate of Rio Grande High School, Class of 1952 and retired from Ohio Bell and Holzer Medical Center. Virginia enjoyed gardening, flowers, quilting and cooking but most importantly spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Clester Tackett; children, Deborah Ellis of Bidwell, Clester Tackett, Jr. and wife Donna of Vinton, Bonnie Phillips and husband Tim of Bidwell, Ray Tackett and wife Janet of Middleport, Pat Tackett and wife Tracy of Bidwell and Star Pullins and husband Marvin of Bidwell; 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; a brother, Harold (Sandra) Barnett of Lancaster, OH; and special friend and caregiver, Pat Wasch.
The family would also like to extend our gratitude to the wonderful staff of Holzer Hospice who worked tirelessly providing comfort care for mom. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, June 5, 2023, at the Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Marc Sarrett officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Tabor Cemetery in Vinton. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the funeral service Monday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Holzer Hospice.
