Janice L. Stapleton, 85, of Gallipolis, Ohio passed away on Sunday, July 16, 2023 in Holzer Senior Care. Janice was born on August 31, 1937 in Gallia County, Ohio, daughter of the late Peter A. and Allie B. Lane Holley. She was an art teacher for twenty plus years and a member of Kings Chapel Church, where she played the piano, taught Sunday School, and sang in the choir.
Janice was married to Floyd Stapleton on August 26, 1954; and he survives her along with their children, two daughters, Cynthia D. "Cindy" (Bob) Howard of Thurman and Debra S. (Thom) Greene of Gallipolis and one son, Eric (Flora) Stapleton of Gallipolis; eleven grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; two sisters, Naomi (Gene) Brown and Shirley (Dale) Watson both of Crown City; and two brothers, George Holley of Grove City, Ohio and Warren (Judy) Holley of Crown City, Ohio. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Janice was preceded in death by a son, Michael Stapleton; a daughter, Lori Somerville; a great grandson, Andrew Gardner; four sisters, Leslie Stapleton, Doris Jeffers, Betty Johannensen, and Bessie Marlene Duncan; and five brothers, Beuford Holley, Dale Holley, Donald Holley, Basil "Sambo" Holley, and Melvin "Jack" Holley.
The funeral service for Janice will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Clyde Ferrell officiating. Her burial will follow in Kings Chapel Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
