Drexel L. Salyers, 82, of Patriot, Ohio passed away on Monday, January 1, 2024 at Holzer Medical Center Emergency Room.
Born on June 5, 1941 in Westwood, Kentucky, Drexel was the son of the late George W. and Madge Johnson Salyers. On July 22, 1963, Drexel married Anna L. Sergent Salyers, who survives him in Patriot. After 35 years as a welder, Drexel retired from Armco Steel in Ashland, Kentucky. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1958-1962. Drexel enjoyed hunting, fishing, and guns.
Drexel is survived by his wife of 60 years, Anna L. Salyers; children, Kathryn (Michael) Kreger of Rainier, Oregon, Drexel L. (Brittany) Salyers of Oak Hill, Ohio, Mitchell D. (Stephanie) Salyers of Patriot, Mark A. (Cindi) Salyers of Patriot, and Sherie L. (Robert) Kapp of Patriot; daughter-in-law, Valarie Salyers of Huntington, West Virginia; eleven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Kathy Salyers of Xenia, Ohio; brother-in-law, David Gullett of Cannonsburg, Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Drexel was preceded in death by a son, Bryan Edward Salyers and siblings, Vernol, Nigel, Agnes, Diane, Dwight, and Bruce.
The funeral service for Drexel will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 5, 2024 at Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Cline Rawlins officiating. Burial will follow in Flag Springs Cemetery. Friends and family may call prior to the service from 12:00-1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to King's Daughters Van Ministry, King's Daughters Medical Center, Attn: Patty Harvey, 2201 Lexington Avenue, Ashland, KY 41101.
