William “Bill” Henry Cleland, 95, of Racine, passed away, on Thursday, February 22, 2024 in the Overbrook Center, Middleport, Ohio. Born January 9, 1929 in Williamsport, Ohio he was the son of the late Reverend Thomas A. and Mabel Wolf Cleland. He was of the Methodist faith. He served his country in the US Army; he was a lifetime member of the Racine American Legion Post# 604. He was employed for 32 years with the Ohio Department of Transportation, retiring as the District 10 Equipment Supervisor.

He is survived by his wife of seventy years Jane W. Webb Cleland, whom he married on June 20, 1953 in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. Two sons, William “Bill” Lee (Sharon) Cleland, of Racine, and Wayne Thomas Cleland, of Siler City, North Carolina, a granddaughter, Cassie (Ryan) Cleland Hite, of Cape Coral, Florida, a great-granddaughter, Isla Hite, a sister, Betty McMurray, of Daytona Beach, Florida, and several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Christy Cleland, a daughter-in-law, Margo Cleland, six brothers, James, Robert, Paul, Kenneth, Dallas, and Meredith Cleland, along with a sister, Isabel Pickens.

Private family graveside services will be held at the Greenwood Cemetery at the convenience of the family with Rev. Larry Fisher officiating. The Cremeens-King Funeral Home, Racine is entrusted with the arrangements.
