Shade - Larry (Lum) M. Well, 81, of Shade, died Sunday, April 16, 2023 at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus.
Born February 20, 1942, in Bedford Township, Meigs County, Ohio, he was the son of the late Vern C and Audra Willard Well. Lum was a 1960 graduate of Shade High School and belonged to the Brick Layers Union of America. He was a life member of the Harrisonville Masonic Lodge having belonged for 54 years, a member of the Harrisonville OES for 50 years, the Meigs County Izaak Walton League of America and the Gold Ridge Gun Club. Lum was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed all aspects of working on his farm and his pheasant hunting trips out west. He spent many hours chasing his grandchildren around the farm and attending all of their activities…never missing any of them. Come winter time he enjoyed reading westerns in front of his fireplace.
He is survived by two daughters, Amanda (Clinton) Stanley and Jody Custer (Tara Morris); three grandchildren, Rachael Well, Layne Stanley and Savana Stanley; four siblings, Donna Morris, Vernal (Louise) Well, Richard (Chris) Well and Jerry (Susan) Well; numerous nieces and nephews; many many friends and his beloved dog Dan.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Judy Kerns Well in 2020; one daughter, Alesia Denise Well in 1993; one brother, Denver (Florence) Well; and infant brother, Boyd; brother-in-law Guy Morris and a special friend, George Morrison.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 20, 2023 at the Ewing-Schwarzel Funeral Home in Pomeroy with Justin Roush officiating. Burial will follow in the Burlingham Cemetery. Lunch will be served at the Harrisonville Masonic Lodge following the services at the cemetery and all are encouraged to attend. Visitation will be on Wednesday evening from 5:00 PM-7:00 PM at the Ewing-Schwarzel Funeral Home with a Masonic and Eastern Star service starting at 7:00 PM. Friends are encouraged to sign the online guestbook at ewingfuneralhome.net. The family would like to thank the doctors and nursing staff at the Trauma and Burn Center 9 West Doan and Central Ohio Hospice for all their loving care.
