Darwin - Vernal Harold Well, 88, of Darwin, passed away Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Darst Private Care Home in Pomeroy.
Born January 3, 1936, in Darwin, Ohio, he was the son of the late Vern and Audra Williard Well. A lifelong Meigs County resident, Vernal graduated from Shade High School and is a United States Army veteran. Vernal worked for Kaiser Aluminum as an electrician for forty years before retiring. He was a member of the Harrisonville Masonic Lodge 911, Hemlock Grove Church of Christ and the Athens Elks Lodge. Vernal loved spending time on the farm and was an avid outdoorsman making several trips out west on hunting expeditions. He also enjoyed square dancing and bluegrass music.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Eleanor Louise Warner Well; one son, Jack (Joyce) Well; two daughters, Jill (Troy) Harrned and Judy Jackson; four grandchildren, Autumn (Michael) Starostin, Heather Jackson, Emily (Bobby) Strange and Lydia Jackson; three great grandchildren, Leyla and Alexi Starostin and Leo Fisher and two brothers, Richard (Chris) Well and Jerry (Susan) Well.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Denver,Larry and Boyd Well and one sister Donna Morris.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at the Ewing Funeral Home in Pomeroy, Ohio with Scott Warner officiating. Burial will follow at Burlingham Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Masonic services will be conducted by the Harrisonville Masonic Lodge 911 at 12:45 PM before the service.
