Text

On June 2, 2024, Jerome “Joe” George McCutcheon, 83, of Little Hocking left this earth to meet his Lord Jesus Christ. He joins his wife, Juanita Jane (Nichols) McCutcheon who recently preceded him in death as well as a brother Jarrett “Jerry” McCutcheon, sister Maysel Williams, parents Harvey “Pat” and Mary, and many in-laws and loved ones.

Joe was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He is survived by sister Ann (Jim-deceased) Matthews, children Shane (Lisa) McCutcheon and Heather (Mark – who Joe thought of as a son) Krugman, grandchildren Kaitlin, Ben, Gavin (Amanda), Tiffany, Emily, and Ryan, great-grandchildren Dakota and Aria, and lots of loving in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Joe was an avid bass fisherman and was always ready for a new fishing adventure. He cherished his family and friends and gave generously of his time, talents, and treasure. He was a neighbor to everyone, never knew a stranger, and charitable to a fault. Joe retired from Dupont Washington Works as an electrician. He was active in his community including his work with the Little Hocking Volunteer Fire Department, Little Hocking United Methodist Church, and past member of Eastern Star and Masonic Lodge, Bartlett Chapter #293 and was a founding member of both the Veto Bassmaster and Little Hocking Bassmaster Club. Joe won B.A.S.S. Sportsman of the year in 1978.

Joe was a man of integrity and joy filling our lives with his big laugh and bold personality. He served as an example of a godly family man who unselfishly sacrificed for his family. He will be missed by many more than words can say.

Visitation will be Friday, June 7th 5pm-7pm at White-Schwarzel Funeral Home in Coolville, OH and the celebration of life service will be held at Mt. Hermon United Brethren Church, 36411 Wickham Road, Pomeroy, OH on Saturday, June 8th at 11:00am. Visitation will begin at 10:00am Saturday morning. Pastors Craig (Marilyn) Holler and Joe Rowland presiding.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Lancaster House Assisted Living facility and Shrivers Hospice for their tireless and cheerful care of both Joe and Juanita. And a special thanks to Mike Putman, Kevin Schwarzel, and all those at White-Schwarzel Funeral Home who treat every situation with compassion and grace.
