Larry Edward Thorn, 82, of Ravenswood, WV, passed away on May 8, 2023, at Ravenswood Village in Ravenswood, WV.
He was born on February 2, 1941, in Sandyville, WV, son of the late Dan Edward and Grace Isabel Vannoy Thorn.
Larry loved to listen to Bluegrass music and enjoyed the every Thursday group, “River Rats” at Ravenswood Riverfront Park. He was a member of USWA Local 5668 in Ravenswood, and retired as a Janitor from Pechiney Rolled Products.
He is survived by his longtime companion, Helen “Inky” Arose and her children of Ravenswood, WV; sister, Janet French of Given, WV, brother, Dan Thorn of Sandyville, WV, nephew, Randall Wendelken of Belpre, OH; niece, Susan Wendelken (Les) Hall of Ostrander, OH; nephew, James (Aimee) French of Ripley, WV; nephew, Jeff (Geri) French of Spring, TX; niece, Kim (Larry) Womack of Liberty, WV; niece, Kathy (Gary) Sommerville of Ravenswood, WV; nephew, Joseph Thorn of Sandyville, WV; many great nieces and nephews; special friends, Tim and Crystal Freeman; and a host of friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille; brother, Charles Thorn; sister, Lila June Thorn Wendelken; and sister-in-law, Carolyn Ann Williams Thorn.
The Thorn family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Malik and Ravenswood Village for their compassion and care.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, May 12, 2023, at 2:00 pm at Roush Funeral Home in Ravenswood with Father Pen officiating. Burial will follow in Jackson County Memory Gardens in Cottageville, WV.
Friends may visit the family at the funeral home in Friday from 12:00 to 2:00 pm.
