Our loving mother and grandmother, Evelyn Mae Weirick, 92, of Ravenswood, WV, passed away on August 29, 2023, at Ravenswood Care Center.





She was born on May 23, 1931, in Letart, WV, daughter of the late Clarence C. and Wilda Marie Smith Blessing.





Evelyn enjoyed sewing, gardening and many church activities. She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Ravenswood. She was currently a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in New Haven, WV. She was past president and member of the Pilot Club of Jackson County; past member of Jackson County Board of Health; Jackson General Hospital Board; Kanawha Hospice Board; past president of Jackson County Easter Seals Society; and past president of the women of ELCA serving WV/WMD Synod.





In her seventies, she went on a mission trip to Madagascar.





She is survived by her children, Martin L. (Marsha) Weirick, and Reverend Patrice Weirick; 2 grandchildren, Andrew and Christine Weirick; 3 great grandchildren, Juniper, Grayson and Ruby; 1 brother-in-law, William Rogers; several nieces and nephews; and her best friend, Phyllis Fox.





In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend George C. Weirick; daughter, Dr. Katrina Weirick, DVM; son, Phillip; sisters, Dorothy Barthlomew and Peggy Rogers; brother, Charles (Dorothy) Blessing; and niece, Angela Blessing.





The funeral service will be held on Monday, September 4, 2023, at 11:00 am at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in New Haven, WV, with Reverend Patrice Weirick and Reverend Bishop Matthew Riegel officiating. Burial will follow in Ravenswood Cemetery at 2:30 pm.





Friends may visit the family at Roush Funeral Home in Ravenswood on Sunday, September 3, from 3:00 to 7:00 pm.
