On Sunday May 19, 2024 at 9:39am Sarah Louise (Kelly) Gibbs passed from this life to her eternal home.



Sarah Was born in Middleport, Ohio in 1929 to William V. Kelly and Mary Rockwell Kelly. Sarah's formative years took her from Middleport, Ohio to Syracuse, Ohio before the family moved to Hartford, West Virginia. Sarah was a 1947 graduate of Wahama High School before attending Marshall University (then a college) for two years. Sarah later married William C. Gibbs of Hartford, WV before they moved to New Haven, WV and started a family. Sarah and Bill were married for 33 years before separating. Sarah had tow children Marilyn and George who were both raised in New Haven.



Sarah worked for American Gas & Electric in their service corps accounting during the building of the Phillip Sporn Pland in New Haven then on to Kyger Creek during during its construction before taking a permanent job with the Kyger Creek Plant in Cheshire, OH. From Kyger Creek she took a job at the Foote Mineral Plant in New Haven where she worked in the office for 29 years before retiring from there. After retiring from Foote Mineral Sarah continued to work in various places with her longest post retirement tenure being spent working for the New Haven Library in New Haven untill she was 88 years old. Sarah's most favorite job of her career was her time with the New Haven Library and the Mason County Library System Family.



Among her other interest you would find her highly involved with her church family at the New Haven First Church of God, WCG, and being Sunday School Superintendent. She was a member and past President of the New Haven Nehaclima Garden Club for many years. She tried to stay politically active and spent 34 consecutive years on the Town Council of New Haven and working for her Grand Old Republican Party of Mason County. She was and Election Poll worker in Mason County for many years.



Without a doubt, her most loved endeavors revolved around her family, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. You may see her setting in a lawn chair outside of the New Haven Pharmacy all night long waiting to purchase the latest Beanie Baby for her granddaughters. She would often be typing papers on the dining room table to help her family complete assignments, or hosting an overnight stay or a birthday party. Her love for her family was undeniable and she was their biggest cheerleader.



She never met a child she did not like and could not pass a child without offering them at least $1.00 with the parent's permission. She loved to shop, eat out go for drives and keep on the move. She had a love for people until her passing. Sarah leaves behind a legacy of love that her family is very proud of.



Sarah was preceded indeath by her parents William V. and Mary Rockwell Kelly, her sister Betty L. Kelly, her daughter Marilyn L (Paul) Pierce and her ex-husband William C. Gibbs.



She is survived by her son George W. Gibbs of New Haven, granddaughter Mary Beth (Josh) Young of Hartford, WV, granddaughter Lora (Jarrod) Circle of Racine, OH, great-granddaughters Emma and Ava Young of Hartford, great-grandsons Aden Young of Hartford and Oliver Circle of Racine, and son -in-law Paul Pierce of New Haven.



The family of Sarah would he honored to have your company for a celebration of her life on Wednesday May 29, 2024 at the First Church of God in New Haven with a visitation period from 11:00am to 1:00pm, a celebration of Life Funeral at 1:00pm with dinner to follow at the Saint Paul Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall in New Haven. For those who wish to make a donation in lieu of flowers, please give to the New Haven Library in New Haven.
