Bonnie Irene (Forth) Smith, 89, passed away on July 21, 2024 listening to "Where Could I Go But To The Lord.." Bonnie was born on February 8, 1935 in Bladen Ohio to Minnie (Jackson) Forth and James Campbell Forth. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star of Kentucky - 326 Fordsville Chapter. She attended the Middleport Church of Christ and made many friendships over the years in her Homebuilders Sunday School Class.
Bonnie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She loved spending time outdoors on the porch, spending time talking with with family and friends, doing search-a-word puzzle books, and yard sales. Bonnie graduated from Gallia Academy in 1952 and worked for the Gallipolis Phone Company as a phone operator. There she met her husband, Jonnie Odell Smith, and was married on November 12, 1955. He preceded her in death on January 17, 1993 after 37 years of marriage. From this union they had two children, Dale Ray and Carol Ann. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Burdell Forth and sisters Dorothy Baker, Elsie King, Delcie Forth and Emma Forth and her son Dale Smith.
Survivors include her daughter, Carol (Ryan) Mahr who she resided with for the last 7 years until the last few months; daughter-in-law, Carol Marie Smith; cousin, Ruby Cremeens; nieces and nephew, Kathy Baker, Angelia (Mark) Gilkey, Sheila (Ray) Slone and Jim Forth; and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. In addition, surviving grandchildren and significant others include Joyce (Jonathon) McDaniel, Melissa (Aaron) Hall, David (Nancy) Smith, Steven (Emma) Mahr, Brandon (Haley) Mahr, Dillon (Quinn) Mahr, Austin (Josie) Mahr, and Andrea (Ethan) Mahr. Great grandchildren include Kelsey, Ricky, Tanner, Raylee, Eve, and Eli.
We would like to thank Gallia County Senior Citizens and Vinton County Daybreak and May for the wonderful times of laughter and fun. We would also like to thank Overbrook Center and staff and Marietta Hospice for your loving care.
Funeral services will be Saturday, July 27, 2024 at 1:00pm at the Anderson Mcdaniel Funeral Home in Middleport with Pastor Al Hartson and Pastor Russ Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Ohio Valley Memory Gardens in Gallipolis, Ohio. Friends may call on Saturday from 11:00am to 1:00pm at the funeral home.
