Text

Michael Terrell Struble, 70, of Syracuse, Ohio, passed away on Monday, July 22nd after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Patricia Ihle Struble. Together, they raised two children: Evan Tyler Struble, of Columbus, Ohio; and Erin Elizabeth (Jim) Heater, of Syracuse, Ohio. Michael could not have been more proud of his two grandsons, Ryan Allen McCabe (Sara Simms) of Mary Esther, Florida; and Owen Michael McCabe of Syracuse, Ohio.

In addition, Michael is survived by: his mother, Martha Willemma Terrell Struble; brother-in-law, Michael Ihle; sister-in-law Diana Ihle; aunt and uncle, Janet and Bill Williamson; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his beloved dog Sully.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Iles Struble; father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Mary Lou Ihle; his brother-in-law, Nicholas Ihle; and other aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Michael graduated from Ohio University and obtained a degree in Social Studies. After his retirement, he continued his education through coursework at Trinity Lutheran Seminary at Capital University. Michael found passion in work that lifted up others, most recently as a lay minister within the Episcopal Church.

Michael was also a student of the world, putting his curiosity and education to good use as a researcher and published author. He tinkered quite a bit with photography and antique cameras with his dear friend Tom Ball. He, and his fascination with so many eclectic interests, will be greatly missed.

Friends may call upon the family on Monday, July 29th from 6 - 8 p.m. at Grace Episcopal Church in Pomeroy, Ohio. A celebration of life service, led by Mother Leslie Flemming, will be held on Tuesday, July 30th at 11 a.m. at Grace Episcopal Church. A luncheon will be available after the service.

Michael’s family would like to express their gratitude to the care team and hospice attendants at: Riverside Methodist Hospital, Overbrook Rehabilitation Center, OhioHealth Cancer Center in Athens, and Amedisys, for his care. Additional thanks to Anderson McDaniel Funeral Home for handling all arrangements. Should you wish, please consider donating to a cause or organization that supports the well-being of others in honor of Michael.
