Barbara Agnes Riggs of Pomeroy, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at Overbrook Center. Barbara was born on May 28,1938 to the late Wayne and Mina Swisher. Barbara spent much of her career employed at the Daily Sentinel, as well as the Meigs County Courthouse. Barbara was a long-time member of Trinity Church in Pomeroy. Barbara enjoyed spending time with her family, loved her pets, enjoyed doing needlepoint, and was a huge Ohio State Buckeye football fan. For many years, she looked forward to monthly card club with her friends.
Barbara is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years Dr. Ira Keith Riggs, both of her parents Wayne and Mina Swisher; her two brothers Charles Swisher and Don Swisher. Barbara is survived by her two children; daughter and son-in-law Andrea (Jeff) Adkins of Gallipolis, Ohio; son and daughter-in-law Nicholas (Stephanie) Riggs of Stow, Ohio; four granddaughters Lauren (Austin) Jenkins of Columbus, Ohio, Peyton (Wes) Cochran of Vincent, Ohio, Victoria Riggs and Lindsay Riggs both of Stow Ohio; four great-grandchildren Beau and Sunny Jenkins, Rhett and Charlie Cochran; nephew Philip (Stephanie) Swisher of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, great-nephew and great-niece Nate and Kate Swisher; nephew Eric Swisher of Oregon; and many other family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held don Monday, September 23, 2024 at 1:00pm with Paul Reed officiating. Burial will follow in the Beech Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral (12:00-1:00pm).
