Thomas H. Cummons, 82, of Gallipolis, Ohio passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, West Virginia.

On September 2, 1942, Tom was born in a log house in Lecta, Ohio. He was the son of the late William H. and Bessie V. Sprouse Cummons. On August 1, 1963, Tom married Geraldine K. Waugh Cummons, who survives him in Gallipolis. Tom graduated from Hannan Trace High School Class of 1960. He worked at various businesses: Bob Evans Steakhouse (1960-1963), Valley Bell Dairy delivering milk (1963-1966), and Goodyear in Apple Grove, West Virginia (1966-1979). Tom started a contracting business with his brother Danny in 1979 until he retired in 2016. He enjoyed farming his whole life, gardening, and taking care of his yard. Many families ate out of his garden because he always planted more than his wife and he could eat. Tom also loved to deer hunt.

Tom is survived by his wife, Geraldine Cummons of Gallipolis, Ohio; three sons, Mark (Amanda) Cummons, Jerry (Susan) Cummons, and Randy (Peggy) Cummons all of Gallipolis; seven grandchildren, Scott (Courtney) Cummons, Brittani (Chance) Ruiz, Nathan (Allie) Cummons, Leah (Cody) Cummons, Stacie (Zach) Fielder, Wyatt Patterson, and Megan Dyer; thirteen great grandchildren; brothers, Daniel L. (Shirley) Cummons and Kenneth R. Cummons both of Gallipolis; sister-in-law, Sharon Cummons of Hillard, Ohio; and many nieces, nephews, and family.

In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert A. Cummons and William F. Cummons; daughter-in-law, Loreda Cummons; and sister-in-law, Nellie Cummons.

The funeral service for Tom will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 31, 2024 at Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Clyde Ferrell officiating. Entombment will follow in Ohio Valley Memory Gardens Chapel of Hope Mausoleum. Friends and family may call prior to the service Thursday from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Scott Cummons, Nathan Cummons, Cody Hall, Zach Fielder, Chance Ruiz, and Brandon Caldwell.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Kings Chapel Church, c/o Flora Stapleton, 4307 Bladen Road, Gallipolis, OH 45631 or King Chapel Cemetery, c/o Francis Waugh, King Cemetery Lane, Crown City, OH 45623.
