H. Craig Wehrung was born on April 3, 1941, in Pomeroy, OH, to the late Harlan Henry and Aileen Grace (Rea) Wehrung. He changed his address to Heaven on November 15, 2024.
Craig graduated from Pomeroy High School in 1959, received his Bachelor’s Degree from Ohio Dominican and his Master’s Degree in Hospital Administration from the University of Dayton. He was employed as a consultant at Ohio Hospital Management Services, self-proprietor of Operational Diagnostics in numerous hospitals before retiring from the Charleston Area Medical Center, Charleston, WV. He was certified as a Six Sigma Black Belt while on the CAMC Administrative staff. He began his career as a registered Radiologic Technologist and a registered Nuclear Medicine Technologist at Riverside Methodist Hospital.
His family members were the loves of his life. Surviving are his wife, Texanna (White), of Middleport, OH, whom he married on Nov. 10, 1995, his children Jeffery H. (Frances) Wehrung of Hayes, VA, Amy M. Wallace of Williamsburg, VA., step-daughter, Amber L. (Jeremy) Morehart; grandchildren, Harlan (Alexa) Wehrung, Jonathan (Bree) Wehrung, Derrick Metheney, Jaykob Eplion, Harlee Whitlatch, Taylor (Damon) Hogge, Bryce Carneal, Alyx (Cody) Bateman, and Peyton Carneal, great-grandchildren James & Hailey Wehrung, Riley Wehrung, Zoey and Jaxx Carneal, Harper Bateman, and Rilee Hogge; his sister Judith Sisson, special cousins Reva Bunce and Donna Thomas, and several nephews and nieces (all special to him).
Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were his brother-in-law Jim Sisson, grandson Thomas M. Parker II, and Linda Tingley, his first wife and mother of his children.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Middleport, OH. Craig loved his church family and was loved by them in return. While he was able, he supported them by doing artwork for cantatas and VBS, also with a puppet ministry, and doing repair work around the church. His favorite phrase was, “I can fix that!”, and he usually could. He loved spending time in his work shop at home making things out of wood, especially for around his fountain, maintaining his grass, and sitting on his front porch overlooking the Ohio River and the West Virginia mountains.
Per his wishes, Craig will be cremated and no public service will be held. The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
Thank you to all who supported him and Texanna in any way through his long illness, also to the Home Health Hospice staff from Athens who were a Godsend through the last weeks.
