Mary Deloris Wood King, 95, went to be with the Lord at her home December 4, 2024, Pomeroy, Ohio. Born April 13, 1929 in Scipio Township, close to Snowville, she was the youngest daughter of the late Weber and Murl Hart Wood. She married Virgil Clinton King, August 31,1947. They were married 55 years until his death on August 30, 2002.

She was a 1947 graduate of Harrisonville High School. As a homemaker, she delighted in the art of sewing, crafting her six children's clothing, quite often with remnants. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidering, and hand-quilting. After her retirement she crocheted hundreds of knit hats for cancer patients and missions, and lap robes for residents in nursing homes. She also hand-quilted over 150 quilts, quilting for other people and made several custom quilts as surprise gifts for people she felt were special to her. While she still had her sight, she filled many search-a-word books, put together many jigsaw puzzles, and did diamond painting. She was a bus driver for Meigs Local School District for 25 years before her retirement in 1993.

She trusted Jesus as her Savior on August 2, 1942 at Snowville Methodist Church. Being a devoted follower of Christ, her faith remained the cornerstone of her life and she found comfort and fellowship at Calvary Bible Church. She spent several hours a day listening to sermons and Christian music on BBN radio.

She is survived by her six children and their families. Judy (Obie) Coomer, Sarasota, Florida; Grace ( Jon) Scott, Mansfield, Ohio; Mary (Mel) Felts, Mason, Michigan; Geneva (Tim) Stanphill, Winthrop Harbor, Illinois; David (Cyndi) King, Pomeroy, Ohio; Helen (John) Vinson, Monterey, Virginia. She also leaves behind thirteen grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren, six great, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her siblings and their spouses Ernest (Ethel) Wood, Ilah (Russ) Hoffman, and Norman (Jean) Wood and her brother-in-law, Leo (Pauline) King.

A special thank you to Josiah Williams, Sue and Steve Brickles, Frances and Earie Wood, Carol Williams, and Ohio Hospice (Tonia, Jessica, Nicole, Anna, Josh) for helping with her care and bringing her much joy.

A visitation to honor Deloris' memory will be held December 9, 2024 5:00pm to 7:00pm with the funeral service following at 7:00pm at the Anderson McDaniel Funeral Home, Pomeroy, Ohio. Private interment will be held at Carleton Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Calvary Bible Church which will be donated to missions abroad.
