Thomas Jefferson Smith, 76, of Gallipolis, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 11, 2023.
Born on December 16, 1946 in Albany, Ohio, Tom was the son of the late James A. and Vada Ada McCallister Smith. Tom was married to Mickey Smith on August 18, 1966. Tom was a member of Addison F.W.B. Church where he served as a deacon, played bass, and was a member of the Addison Quartet and New City Singers . He was a Vietnam Veteran, a retired mechanic from Norris Northup Dodge, and enjoyed visiting his friends and working on vehicles in his garage.
Surviving are his son, Matt (Linda) Smith, of Gallipolis; a daughter-in-law, Helen Smith of Gallipolis; five grandchildren, Tonya (Todd) Wisner, Jared (Teresa) Smith, Matthew Smith Jr., Austin Smith, and Paisley Smith; four great grandchildren, Elizabeth Smith, Addie Wisner, Kai Wisner, and Harper Wisner; several nieces and nephews; brother, Jerry (Goldie) Smith of Bidwell, Ohio; sisters, Flossie (Mike) Jude of Vinton, Ohio, Geraldine (Skip) Moore of Jackson, Ohio, Stella (Bob) Blankenship of Shade, Ohio, Dot (Carl) Smith of Langsville, Becky (Bill) Lambert of Langsville, Wanda Nelson of Malta, Ohio, and Bonnie Cleland of Florida; sister-in-law, June Smith of Bidwell; and close friend, Riley Vance of Gallipolis.
In addition to his wife, Tom was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Darrell Smith and James Smith; sons, Jay Smith and Mark Smith; and daughter, Nancy Smith.
Services will be at held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 16, 2023 at Addison Freewill Baptist Church with Pastors Matt Smith and Jamie Fortner officiating. Burial will follow in Reynolds Cemetery. Military honors will be given by the Gallia County Funeral Detail at the cemetery. Friends may call at the church prior to the service from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. on Monday.
