Adrian D. “Buddy” Haner, 94, of Gallipolis, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, West Virginia.
Born on April 27, 1928 in Gallia County, Ohio, Buddy was the son of the late Russell and Fannie F. Neal Haner, Sr. On June 15, 1957, Buddy married Gladys Davis Haner who survives him in Gallipolis; last year, they celebrated 65 years of marriage. Buddy worked for the Bob Evans Sausage Plant; when he retired with 38 ½ years, Buddy was the Assistant Plant Manager. He liked watching purple martins fly, gardening, watching boats on the Ohio River, and motorcycles. Most importantly, Buddy was saved on September 29, 2021.
Buddy is survived by his wife of 65 years, Gladys Haner; daughter, Melody Haner Burnett of Gallipolis; sons, Baron (Oline) Haner of Gallipolis and Jeff Haner of Gallipolis; five grandchildren, Isiah Simmons, Tyrone Simmons, Nicole Haner, Seth Haner, and Caleb Burnett; six great grandchildren, Braydn Simmons, Illyana Simmons, Kirra Simmons, Kali Simmons, Quentin Simmons, and Sylas Haner; sisters, Harriett Martin of Cincinnati, Ohio and Josey Mowery of Springfield, Ohio; brothers, Kenny (Marsha) Haner of Crown City, Ohio and Bob (Carolyn) Haner of Gallipolis; sisters-in-law, Clara Haner of Gallipolis and Hilda Haner of Gallipolis; brothers-in-law, Junior Lewis of Flatwoods, Kentucky and Eugene Davis of Columbus, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Buddy was preceded in death by four brothers, Russell Haner, Jr., Jerry Haner, Wendell Haner, and Jim Haner and two sisters, Mary Lewis and Hilda Barcus.
The funeral service for Buddy will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 20, 2023 at Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Aaron Young officiating. Burial will follow in Ohio Valley Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 19, 2023 at the funeral home.
